IMDB gave this a 6.6/10 Rotten Tomatoes gave this an incomplete score. While it's probably given a complete one by now, it doesn't deserve this high of a score. This movie is 10 years too late. Director Jeff Fowler obviously didn't read not one comic book, let alone the prequel (episode 0) of the Archie comics. This is but Hollywood's take of Sonic the movie. While it's a good movie, it's not a great and memorable one. And this movie is supposed to be the "prequel" of something bigger. So here's the review. It's good for kids who loved Sonic growing up and of course, people who were brought up in the 90's playing all the Sega classic games. Even me, I'll admit. But when I saw the movie, I asked three basic questions that boggled my eye from beginning to end: -Where's Jaleel White? He's the original voice for Sonic since the '90s 3 versions that came out (Viacom, SatAM, Sonic Underground). He doesn't need to do the voice over, but an actual role. Even if he was a cop or a scientist searching for Sonic, I'd be happy enough that he caught a role. At least give it one final cameo and ride along with the sunset. But you don't. Again, Hollywood's production... -Where's the actual mutation? Sonic, in the prequel, was a brown hedgehog, or in this case, they used a modified pre-use of Sonic before a company recreated it before going bust. THAT would've been interesting: to see the pre-mutated Sonic to the actual Sonic 2/Heroes/present one. Or here's another idea, to actually talk about his real-time mutation from old to new. Pity Hollywood never thought of that... -Where's Robotnik's REAL storyline? You just can't assume that he's been made evil from then and there. He's just as mutated as Sonic himself. In fact, in the prequel comic, (ep.0), both Sonic and Robotnik mutated to change their forms from one to another permanently. But no, we don't see that. We just see Robotnik with his Ace Ventura schtick done to assume he's a hunting "evil detective" with "evil gadgets". Really? Without those factors, I feel that this movie was made ten years WAY too late. If it were say done in 2010 during the boom of Sonic games, it would've made sense and would've helped Sega even more than now. Still entertaining but not enough to satisfy the hardcore Sonic fans out there. Sorry, Hollywood. Jaleel White still doesn't like you for not adding him in as a cameo or an appearance with the original lines he was born to say. Go ahead, make a sequel. But, please do your homework. I'm waiting. Verdict 6/10
