Vic Micolucci is an investigative and general assignment reporter at News4Jax. He joined the WJXT team in May 2010.He's a Jacksonville native who attended Resurrection Catholic School, Paxon School for Advanced Studies and the University of Florida's College of Journalism and Communications, where he graduated with Highest Honors.Before coming to The Local Station, Vic worked as a reporter for ABC News "On Campus" in Gainesville, as sports director for WUFT-TV, and as a reporter and host at the NPR-affiliate WUFT-FM. He interned with Channel 4 and the Florida Times-Union during summer breaks while in college.Vic's stories have been featured on ABC's Good Morning America and World News Tonight, various CNN and HLN programs, ESPN-U, National Public Radio's Morning Edition and BBC Radio.His work has been honored with a national William Randolph Hearst award and two regional Edward R. Murrow awards. His reporting has been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists, the National Broadcasting Society and the Florida Associated Press Broadcasters. Vic was voted Jacksonville's Best Investigative Reporter in Folio Weekly's "Best of Jax" readers poll. He was also honored by The Buzz Magazine as Jacksonville's Top 30 Future Leaders Under 30.Vic covered the 2008 and 2012 Presidential elections, the 2009 BCS National Championship and the 2010 NFL Super Bowl. He followed the Jacksonville Jaguars to their first game overseas in London in 2013 and the University of North Florida men's basketball team to the school's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2015 in Dayton, Ohio.Vic led WJXT's live coverage of the George Zimmerman trial and headlined both Michael Dunn trials gavel-to-gavel.Vic's extensive work during the Dunn trial led to his appearance in the feature-length documentary "3 1/2 Minutes," the movie about the case and the life of teenager Jordan Davis. Vic joined Davis' parents as the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.He has traveled as far as Brazil for a story, where he documented poverty's impact on education."We as journalists have an incredible responsibility to keep our community informed and safe," Vic said. "Storytelling is more than an art, it's a necessity. Together we can hold our government accountable and stand up for what is right. I'm honored to give people a voice and solve the problems they're facing."In 2014, Vic started a video journaling and production program for patients at Wolfson Children's Hospital. He is on the Board of Directors with Jump For Kids, Inc. and The Broach School. Vic is also active with The Justice Coalition and mentors young men. Vic has been a Disc Jockey and emcee since before he had his driver's license. He enjoys performing at weddings, proms and homecomings. Unfortunately, dance skills are not included.When Vic is off, you'll probably find him at the beach biking, on the paddle board or showing off his skills (term used loosely) as a sub-par surfer. Vic has played basketball since he was a kid, but has ruled out a career in the NBA due to lack of coordination.He feels lucky to have most of his family in the area and loves a good Gator game. Hide
